The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy has established a fund, with a plan for endowment, to host some of the top speakers on clinical pharmacy through the Dr. Milap Nahata Distinguished Lecture Series.
The series, initially an idea from a former student, Dr. Robert J. Kuhn (1980 BS) was created to bring to campus presenters to speak about current and future clinical pharmacy research, education, or practice. It is named after Milap Nahata, PharmD, a longtime professor in the college and a leader in the field of clinical pharmacy.
Says Nahata of the lecture series, “I am humbled by this honor, and look forward to the opportunities to learn from and be inspired by the leaders in our field.”
Nahata is a member of the Institute of Medicine (IOM), National Academy of Sciences and was honored with the Parker Medal by the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) in 2009. He has published over 500 articles and three books, and presented almost 300 invited lectures in the United States and around the world, and has numerous national awards and honors. Already a five-time winner, he was recently voted by students as the recipient of the of 2011 Balshone Award for Distinguished Teaching. He is the past president of AACP and ACCP, and an elected Distinguished Practitioner/Scholar in the National Academy of Practice and an elected Fellow of ACCP, APhA, ASHP, the American Academy of Microbiology, the American College of Clinical Pharmacology, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He has provided research training to 34 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows and more than 100 pharmacy students.
